Early Life

Jonathan Rhine was born in New Orleans, LA to Sylvia and Gregory Rhine. He was the first-born of three children, and as the oldest he was most affected by his father's competitive nature. He was enrolled in the local parish sports club and played football, basketball, and baseball until he was 12. When he was 12 years old, his father brought him to a local gym and began to teach him how to wrestle both professional and amateur style.

Getting Discovered

Jonathan practiced both styles of wrestling until he was in high school, when he favored the amateur style because it was offered at school. He won a district championship in the 140 division his first year, and in his second year won the state championship. At the end of his winning match, Foster Nackedy, a local New Orleanian and an NWC star at the time, told Jonathan that he was special and if he was ever interested in wrestling professionally to give Foster a call. After high school ended, Jonathan was offered a scholarship to Rice, but turned it down because he was no longer interested in amateur wrestling. Ready to take the plunge, he gave Foster Nackedy a call.

Gray's Wrestling Academy

Jonathan was immediately entered into the training program of Gray's Wrestling Academy, a school started by Pat Gray, Foster's first trainer. After Gray died due to an unknown illness, there were many head trainers over the next few years until Foster finally retired from the NWC to teach the school. By the time Foster became head trainer, Jonathan Rhine had become the golden boy of the Academy, impressing all of his teachers and classmates with his natural ability and propensity to learn. Foster soon turned Gray's into a promotion, holding house shows at the St. Bernard Parish Civic Center. After a few weeks, Rhine became the champion there, and Foster decided it was time for him to truly shine. He sent video packages to several federations, showing Rhine's skill and also his intelligence and good nature. After a few months, FUSE sent a contract.

FUSE

Debut

Jonathan Rhine first debuted on Killzone 36 as part of the Reign of Chaos tournament to crown a new Custom C.H.A.O.S. tournament. His first opponent was Damien Cruz, a former Universal Champion and certified FUSE Legend. In a Parking Lot Brawl Match, Rhine got his first victory from a Rhine Rewind on top of a parked car. His next match was against another former Universal Champ, Mikael Lundgard. He won the Custom Chaos Title in his third match, an Asylum match at Afflicted Glory versus Kid Cool in the finals of the Reign of Chaos tourament.

Custom Chaos/Gateway Title Run

Jonathan held onto the Custom Chaos Title from May 31st until September 12th. During this run, he had successful defenses against Timo Bolamba, Jamie Hauser, Jason Cruise, and Timo Bolamba again at War In Washington. On September 12, STD renamed the Custom Chaos Title to the Gateway Title, which he held onto until 10/05/07, when he was out of the ring during his defense and Lane Stevens pinned Sean Sterling to win the title.

War In Washington Tower Match

In addition to defeating Bolamba in a ladder match, Jonathan Rhine outlasted 19 other competitors and eliminated Lane Stevens last to win the War In Washington Tower Match, earning a #1 contendership spot against the Universal Champion. He is set to cash in on that shot at DEFIANCE.

The Highwaymen

At War In Washington after his Tower win, Jonathan Rhine was attacked by Clinton Sage and the Affliction. Before the damage could get too bad, though, the lights went out and Aimz, Jason Cruise, and Cyrus Raynes appeared to save him. After clearing the ring of the Affliction, the group of men and woman aligned themselves together, naming themselves The Highwaymen.

The Highwaymen, fueled by individual rage between the members of the Affliction, began tackling the injustices of the evil stable headon. They faced the Affliction in a 4-on-4 stable match at FUSE on ESPN, which ended with Rhine getting the pin over Lane Stevens.

Jonathan Rhine's rivalry with Clinton Sage is one of the driving forces of Affliction vs. Highwaymen, and their match culminated on the PPV DEFIANCE, where Rhine defeated Sage to claim the FUSE Universal Championship.

SCCW

Soon after Rhine's defeat of Clinton Sage, FUSE changed its name to Sin City Championship Wrestling, and Jonathan Rhine was named the SCCW Universal Champion. Rhine went on to defend his title against Malachi, Christian Darke, and Aimz successfully before losing to Aimz on the 5/5/08 episode of Temptation after Aimz attacked him with the hammer that rings the bell.
