	Following up on the success of the first TiT, Chapel decided to strike again with another tournament, this time a "one-night" deal where singles Champions of feds all across the wrestling spectrum would be invited. This Tournament of Champions took place in June of 2006. It ended up being two-nights due to the turnout of invitees who confirmed. 			D!'s first defense of the CoC came at TEAM SuperShow I, held in Boston, MA, against Karl Brown. D! won the match, but was assaulted by Mr. Amazing! after the match.

			While not giving up on his original idea to have a full-time team-based fed, Chapel decided in the interim to run an open invitational tournament in the vein of March Madness. He called it the TEAM Invitational Tournament. The prize at the end was the Chad Merritt Trophy. Named for the founder of the [[CSWA]], the trophy was originally slated to be awarded to the Most Valuable Wrestler of the original TEAM league.

			Thirty-two wrestlers participated in this first tournament. Much like the NCAA Basketball Tournament after it was modeled, the first TiT had four regions: Philadelphia, PA; Calgary, AB; Greensboro, NC; and St. Louis, MO. The first two rounds were held in those respective cities, while Portland, OR hosted the regional finals, and Madison Square Garden in New York City hosted the semifinals and finals. In those finals, [[Karl Brown]] defeated [[Victor Molotov]] to become the first ever TEAM tournament winner.
