PTC Cruiserweight Tournament

PTC Cruiserweight Tournament is the name for two tournaments that took place in Primetime Central. Open to cruiserweights only, the tournaments are identified by number (i.e. CW1 and CW2).

CW1, held in 2004, was won by Seymour Almasy, handled by Sean Williams. CW2, held in 2005, was won by Cereal Killer, handled by Andy Hewitt.

CW1

Fresh off of the success of the Primetime Invitational Tournament, Primetime Central decided to hold another tournament. While many options were considered (such as a female characters only tournament), it was finally decided that the tournament would be for cruiserweight wrestlers.

The tournament was announced on March 14, and brackets for the tournament were officially posted on March 22, 2004, by Tournament Director Argyle. The tournament consisted of four brackets, known by number. Forty two entrants were accepted to CW1.

Unlike the PIT, free agents were permitted in the Cruiserweight Tournament, with the caveat that they would be placed in triple threat matches, while PTC competitors had a chance to have a one on one match as their first round contest.

Breaking down the competitors by federation, CW1 had nine free agents, seven members of Rush Pro Wrestling, three members of Wrestling Midwest, two members of Global Wrestling,

Bracket 1 saw a series of strong performances in the first round. While Lorenzo Guevera no-showed, Matt Jackson took Seymour Almasy to his limit, the PIT champion prevailing by the slimmest of margins. In perhaps the bracket's biggest upset, the free agent Pietro Geist defeated the well established 4WW star Blaise McClancy. The Fallen Fae won his contest by no-show, while Horazon earned a tough victory over Larry the Legionnaire.

The second round saw Almasy and Geist go at one another hard, with Seymour ultimately pulling out a victory over the demonic priest. Horazon, too, triumphed in his second round match over Fae, setting the stage for the Almasy/Horazon final. Unfortunately, Horazon no showed, giving Seymour the victory by default.

Finals

The final four of the tournament thus saw matchups of Seymour Almasy vs. Syko Arsonist, and Ethan Knight vs. Karina Wolfenden. Almasy v. Arsonist was a battle of the last two men to win big PTC events; Almasy having won the PIT, and Arsonist having been victorious in the No Limits rumble that earned him a shot against then Universal Champion Angelo Deville.

After another hard-fought battle, Almasy prevailed over the dangerous Arsonist, boosting Seymour to a tenth straight tournament victory. Karina Wolfenden triumphed over a game Ethan Knight in an RPW vs. RPW clash, sending the controversial face of RPW's Eclipse Division to a finals battle against Seymour Almasy.

In a battle of PTC's present versus its future, Seymour triumphed over the high-flying K-Wolf. Almasy's victory would not deter Wolfenden, however, as the Negasonic Lupine went on to become one of the focal members of PRIME, capturing multiple titles in the process, as well as winning Seven of the Best and becoming (ironically, along with Almasy) one of only two competitors to have held both the PTC Global Title and the PTC Tag Team Titles.

As for Almasy, his tournament winning streak would run to fourteen matches over the course of PIT, CW1, and GTT4, before falling in the fourth round to Craig Goat. Unlike Karina, he would return for the second rendition of the tournament, CW2.

CW2

Cruiserweight Tournament 2 is the smallest tournament in PTC's history, consisting of only thirty-two competitors.
