GCW
Dorian Ryan (Born Dorian Seth Ryan on May 21, 1982 in Ypsilanti, Michigan) is a professional wrestler best known for his time in GCW where he was also known as X and Sam Wolack. He also previously wrestled in various territories in the National Wrestling Council where he also used the names Prime, Bishop and Exodus.
Career History
Early Career
Dorian Seth Ryan originally started his career in Minnesota State Wrestling as the "nephew" of Jason Ryan. After a couple of rather uneventful matches, he left Minnesota to head to Japan where he gained some additional seasoning. He returned from Japan as a more complete wrestler, and teamed with his "uncle" in a series of matches in Minnesota, Texas and London before leaving the ring the first time.
Taking time off, Dorian went back to Japan where he had started up a second life, becoming engaged and married. Shortly after the NWC restructured, Dorian returned to the states where he wrestled in the newly formed NWC Central region, where he remained until a concussion at the hands of BloodAngel forced him to take time away from the ring.
After recovering from the concussion, Dorian would reappear in the NWC Pacific region, where he would remain until the NWC went under. He took time off from wrestling because of the death of his wife and son due to complications to childbirth.
Time Away From The Ring
Dorian spent a considerable amount of time away from the ring, recuperating not only from the pain of losing his wife and child, but also recuperating from years of abuse in the ring. During this time, he would meet Andrea Scabbia, who after a whirlwind romance, married while also embarking on a career as a stunt performer and co-ordinator in Hollywood.
Return to the Ring (GCW)
Dorian would return to the wrestling world as the masked and, oddly enough, censored entity known only as X. The character would be an enigmatic presence on GCW television for months. Dorian never appeared in the ring under this persona, but eventually until the end of the storyline, when he would come out from the backstage area and attack the wrestler that was in the ring performing as the character.
Dorian would unmask and return to the wrestling ring as Sam Wolack. He had a couple of minor feuds at this time, but really made a name for himself in some of the riskiest matches that appeared on GCW shows. After building up his name, he was given a shot at the GCW United States Title in a match against Eva VanLorne. He would score an upset to win his first championship in his wrestling career. Unfortunately, his reign was cut short, as he lost the title in a defense against Vivica J. Valentine, injuring his knee in the process.
Dorian would then be released from his GCW contract while he recuperated. Eventually, he made it back to GCW, paying to appear on the show, known simply as "the Wrestler". Eventually, he would finally wrestle his first match as "Deadpool" Dorian Ryan and would quickly become an associate member of the Ascension stable.
Dorian's final show of importance in GCW was at Dangerous Games 2006, where he defeated Bryan Mayhem in a Deadpool Match, and then entering the Dangerous Games Battle Royal later on in the night, where he was the ninth participant to enter, being eliminated by non-participant Shaman. Shortly afterwards, Dorian Ryan left GCW again.
Time Away From The Ring
Dorian Ryan took time away from the ring to move to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to help take care of his wife, who was admitted to a mental health facility. During this time, Dorian would bring his love of sport bikes to a new level, as he started to work for Henderson Performance Works, a custom sport bike shop and repair center.
He would spend the next year performing this trade while still wrestling in independant shows under his old "Prime" name.
Return to GCW
