Alexis Marin (Born Alexis Carlos Marin on December 3, 1979 in Ocala, Florida) is a Miami-based American wrestler of Greek and Chilean heritage, formerly with FUSE where he was the first FUSE Custom C.H.A.O.S. Champion after the relaunch.

Early Life

Alexis Marin was born to Aristotle Varvatos, a Greek-born Student at the University of Central Florida, and Carolina Marin, a Chilean-American waitress in Ocala, Florida on December 3rd, 1979. His parents never married, and his father returned to Greece shortly before he was born, he was raised by his mother and grandparents.

By the time Alexis was 12, he was already standing close to 6'8" and weighing 240 pounds. He was a standout basketball player who continued to grow into a dominating Power Forward. His height and defensive ability caught the attention of many colleges. Alexis decided to attend his hometown University of Central Florida.

Alexis played 2 years of college ball before entering the NBA Draft. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Miami Heat, but was cut from the team early in Training Camp. Alexis, unable to sign on with another team in the NBA headed to the Euro League, where he initially played a season for Olympiacos Piraeus before spending part of a season with Tel Aviv and finally landing his longest stint, two and a half seasons with Fortitudo Bologna.

An injury forced him to call it a career in Basketball when he realized that he wouldn't be able to play in the NBA. During his time in Europe, he met up with Italian Championship Wrestling's Promoter, Dario Valducci.

Wrestling Career

Italy

Signor Valducci saw the 7 foot American as possibly a bankable star in the future. Having met up with Alexis originally as a basketball player, Valducci decided to turn Marin into a Machine of a Monster. Valducci dubbed Marin as the American Clockwork. Rather quickly, the Monster heel that Valducci had invisioned that Marin would become turned into an overwhelming crowd favorite.

Winning two titles in Italy, Marin's star started to rise. It wasn't long before American Promoters started to take notice of the man that Italian Press called the "La parete di rabbia".

FUSE

Alexis Marin would make his FUSE the night the company relaunched. Initially branded as "The American Clockwork" Alexis Marin, he would win the Custom C.H.A.O.S. Championship in his first night with the company. Not wanting to only be associated with just a "hardcore" title, Marin immediately started to target whoever held the FUSE Universal Title, and would get into brawls with those wrestlers.

Marin would also take part part in the FUSE Asylum match for the FUSE Universal Championship, taking on the three men other men that vied for that title, in Damian Cruz, Evan "Damage" Jackson and Michael Lundgard. Marin wouldn't win the match, but would continue his stranglehold over the FUSE Custom C.H.A.O.S. championship. He would eventually be the first in a series of wrestlers to relinquish the title on his quest to win the Universal Championship.

The Dynasty

Eventually, the political landscape in FUSE was starting to change, and Marin saw that his days within the company could have been coming to an end. Hampered by a couple of nagging injuries, Marin became a member of The Dynasty along with Tigera, Jason Ryan, Dwayne Bishop, and Uijo Inoki. As a member of the stable, Marin served as the groups enforcer, taking on the new moniker of The Clockwork Beast, before shortening his ring name to just Marin.

His time in the stable was brief, and he opted out of renewing his contract with FUSE when it expired.

Return to Europe

After leaving FUSE, Marin returned to join Valducci's new Grapple Italia promotion. Marin quickly regained his winning ways as "Machine" Varvatos, playing up his Greek Heritage for the first time in his career. During his time in Italy, Marin was asked to return to FUSE for one night only to help put the Cowboys From Hell over in a Tag Team Gauntlet match.

As "Machine" Varvatos, Marin would win Grapple Italia's Sicilian Championship on two occasions.

Personal Life

When not wrestling in Italy, Alexis Marin resides in Lakes by the Bay, Florida, a Census Designated Place near Miami.

Shortly after leaving FUSE, Alexis married his longtime girlfriend, Elizabeth Stone, who had made appearances in FUSE under the name of "Liz Kennsington".

Upon returning to Italy, in researching his "Machine Varvatos" character, Alexis went to Greece to learn more about the Greek culture and met his father, Aristotle for the first time.
