Seymour Almasy (born Jason Seymour Wilson on June 12, 1981) is an American professional wrestler, currently working for Global Championship Wrestling. He is considered one of the biggest talents in the history of Primetime Central, known for both his RPG-based "Final Fantasy" character, and appearing in almost every federation in wrestling at some point or another.

Early Life

Most of Seymour's early history has been subject to modification and outright falsification due to his RPG-oriented gimmick. The best that can be ascertained from what Seymour himself has said is here.

Born on Long Island to middle-class parents, Seymour became acquainted with video games at an early age thanks to his father. Seymour and his dad would often play together after long days at work as an investment banker. His mother was a housewife and noted party girl, often abandoning Seymour alone at home to go out with her friends.

When Seymour was five years old, his father passed away in a car accident, leaving his mother alone to take care of Seymour. She proved neglectful at this task, leaving Seymour alone in the house four or five days a week until all hours of the night. Eventually, a neighbor picked up on this, and called Child Services. Seymour's mother served a short prison term for child neglect, and she and her son are not on speaking terms to this day.

Child Services placed Seymour with his grandfather, Cid Wilson, who lived in Manhattan. It was there that Seymour first met Laura Marie Winters, better known to wrestling fans as Aerith Heartilly. Seymour and Laura befriended each other quickly, in spite of Seymour being an easy teasing target for the other students in school. The pair were inseparable friends until the end of high school, when college sent them in different directions, Seymour to Penn State, and Laura to Delaware.

Jason took up history as his major, but rapidly grew tired of the college life. A local wrestling school seemed to offer a way out of the tedium for classes, and so during his sophomore year, Seymour began training for the ring.

By the time he was a junior, he left college, ready to try and make his name on the independent scene. Realizing how competitive it could be, he utilized the video games that he had always loved and played to craft himself the persona of "The Final Fantasy" Seymour Almasy, a man who believed himself to be an character in a role-playing video game.

Sending out applications to all of the federations he could find, he was summarily rejected by most for being too cartoony. A promotion called LCW: Evolution offered Seymour a contract, but folded soon after. This left Seymour to sign with the only other promotion who wanted him, the Universal Wrestling Federation.

GTT3, PIT, CW1

As Seymour's stock rose in the UWF, so too was it rising in tournament competition. Entering GTT3 as a second-round playin, Seymour defeated Acid to advance to the second round, and then upset Global Wrestlings Jack Panzer to make it to his bracket final, where he dispatched Mordred of New True Internet Championship Wrestling.

Facing then PCW World Champion Totally Tubular Tommy in the Round of 16, Seymour lost a close contest. Still, his experience in GTT3 had opened the eyes of many in PTC as to Almasy's capabilities. Soon after, WO and PTC split, and the first tournament under the PTC banner was announced as the Primetime Invitational Tournament.

Almasy started quickly, defeating Ethan Evans and Noah Hanson before facing the LOW Extreme Champion Iron Lung, defeating the LOW star to win his bracket. ((Incidentally, the two men would meet a few weeks later in Lights Out Wrestling with Lung's title on the line; Iron Lung won this rematch.))

Seymour next took on the dangerous Fathom, defeating him and advancing to face fellow UWF member Kenny Mercury. Almasy again prevailed, earning himself a date in the finals against the enigmatic Kayna Trielle, better known as Roulette.

With the vacant PTC Global Championship on the line, the two waged war for over twenty-five minutes before Seymour finally managed to spike Trielle with his debuting One-Hit Kill finishing manuever for the win and the title. Almasy would hold the title for almost nine months, successfully defending it against Angelus Sorrow and Dave Harley before losing the belt to Chris Storm in an intensely bitter match that also involved AWS Man (Also Known As Bill). Almasy would be the only champion to successfully defend his title until XUW's Saij.

One half year later, PTC announced its first ever cruiserweight tournament, dubbed CW1.

All-Star Championship Wrestling

With the exception of an qualifying match in the Universal Title Tournament (a losing effort against Xavier Kannon), Seymour's tenure in ACW marked his first stay outside of the comfortable confines of Primetime Central.

Emoticon in Global Wrestling

With his PTC career at a standstill due to disappoints in GTT4 and CW2, Seymour decided to go under an assumed identity to take time away from the prying eyes of the wrestling world at large. He came up with the character of Emoticon, a masked man clad in a black latex bodysuit who lamented the fall of chivalry in the modern world.

Coupled with a new in ring moveset featuring flashy high-flying and lots of counter-oriented rollups, Emoticon became an almost instant success. Wins over stars such as Leinad Soma and Psycho Bunny began his career, as Emoticon worked his way into title contention.

It is perhaps Emoticon's out of ring endeavors, though, that are most notable.

Almost from the start, Emoticon found himself quite taken with Global's Dawn McFarlane. In spite of the former CW1 standout's utter lack of desire to associate herself with him, the chivalric Emoticon remained persistant in his pursuit. In doing so, Emoticon found himself head to head with Christian Zenith's Hunting Grounds faction. This group consisted of Zenith, Dawn, former WMW Ace Superior Champion Shadow, her husband Virgil Ambrosi, and Zenith's beard Vivica J. Valentine.

In spite of Zenith and Dawn's annoyance at Emoticon, he found himself forming a friendship with Shadow over the course of his stay in Global. This led to several awkward moments over the course of the following weeks, culminating in the two sharing a tender moment, much to the chagrin of Miss McFarlane. The next week, Emoticon had the unenviable task of facing one of the now two women that he held strong feelings for, surviving an incredible beating from the Mistress of the Mat to catch her off guard with a victory roll and become the Global Television Champion.

At about the same time, Emoticon/Almasy had his first ever meeting with a man who would prove to be very instrumental in his future: Rich Rollins. Emoticon pulled off what at the time was an immense upset, beating Rollins to become the PTC Infinite Gauntlet Champion.

GTT5

With his career in GCW picking up, Almasy entered GTT5 hell-bent on improving his performances from GTT4 and CW2.

As per the hype requirements of the tournament, Seymour released several hype pieces centering around Final Fantasy and the theme of "Final Fantasy GTT5", with the tagline "Wilt thou change the world, or wilt thou change thyself?"

Placed in the Mrs. Warr Bracket, Seymour drew the dangerous Jonathan Winters in the first round. Defeating Winters by a narrow margin, Almasy moved onto a second round battle with the street-fighting Back Alley Brawler.

Semi-Retirement

After his GTT6 no-show against Killean Sirrajin, many feared the Final Fantasy to be dead. This however was not the case. For six months, Almasy bided his time, attempting to adjust to a life outside of wrestling. His failure to do so, coupled with evidence leading him to believe that ex-wife Aerith Heartilly was in fact alive, led him to join FUSE Wrestling.

His stay in FUSE has been rocky, featuring a bitter feud with Damian Cruz which has left Almasy hospitalized and off-camera, his current status in regards to active in-ring competition unknown.

It is, however, strongly rumored that Almasy will be involved in some way, shape, or form with the new UiWF project.

Return to GCW

To the surprise of the wrestling world, Seymour Almasy made his presence felt on the third anniversary edition of GCW's WorldWide. Sporting a new look and a new attitude, Almasy announced that he had re-signed with the promotion, and promised to work his way to the pinnacle of GCW.

Interestingly, Almasy has entirely dropped his Final Fantasy nickname, instead opting to be referred to as "The Standard-Bearer". He is expected to make his in ring debut on this week's WorldWide.

Legacy

While Almasy's place as an important figure in Primetime Central history is undisputed, exactly where he fits in amongst many of PTC's other top names is a topic of much debate in wrestling circles. While he holds a plethora of championships and honors, Almasy has only beaten one GTT winner in a one-on-one match, his Infinite Gauntlet contest against Rich Rollins. Almasy never stepped in the ring one-on-one with Angelo Deville, Doctor Curiosity, or the recently returned Jason Snow.

Almasy's failure to win a GTT also attracts much scrutiny. While Jay Phoenix also did not win a GTT, Phoenix is the only two time finalist in the tournament's history. Seymour did indeed win Cruiserweight Tournament 1 and the Primetime Invitational Tournament, but these were smaller tournaments that occurred before what some consider the biggest influx of talent to PTC in its history around the time of GTT4.

Trivia

Seymour Almasy's first match ever was a Triple-Threat Match on an episode of UWF Saturday Afternoon Supremacy against Mr. Powerful and Winter.

In spite of what has become in later years a fierce devotion to the memory of his ex-wife, Seymour is noted by some as something of a ladies man in the sport, becoming romantically involved with both Tessa Windsor and Alyssa Sanders. Almasy was also notably a part of the "love triangle in Global Wrestling between himself, Lia Ambrosi, and [[Dawn McFarlane}}.

The only PTC titleholder to ever successfully defend his championship against the challenging Almasy is Hoyt Williams, who successfully turned back Almasy's challenge for the PTC Extreme Title, preventing Seymour from sweeping all three PTC belts.
