Introduction
Much like any federation associated with FWrestling.com, New Frontier Wrestling's history truly starts in the early 90's on the Prodigy Online service that used to compete against AOL as a primary internet service provider. Prodigy was one of the first organized fantasy wrestling communities that produced many long-standing writers in our federation and other esteemed ones such as CSWA and the fWo.
In particular importance to NFW would be the UWA, an indy-style fed that paid particular indy-roots homage to Philadelphia wrestling. The UWA ran on the Prodigy Service from 1992-1997 producing a revolutionary style of writing that influences NFW still to this day.
The UWA was home to many fwrestling.com legends such as Tom Adler, Mike Randalls, Craig Miles, Troy Windham, Avery Prosser, Michael Manson, Shane Southern, Anarky and even had a special appearance by Hornet, once.
In character, the UWA closed due to financial struggles that were induced by Anne Mystic's kidnapping attempt on UWA's first owner, Avery Everette. Quentin Sullivan (future NFW co-founder) tried to revamp the fed using fresh, young talent and doing away with alot of stars...but it didn't last long.
Three years passed after UWA's closure, Jamar Nicholas seemingly not interested in the politics FW was running into. Ironically, in 2000 through the magic of the blossoming internet and fantasywrestling.com community -- IMs and emails started getting traded back and forth between himself and some dude named Jon Katz.
Both agreed on many of the problems that led to Prodigy's demise, and both agreed they'd love to run a fed together. JN, always a fan of JK's Craig Miles character suggested an indy style fed founded by Miles and Sullivan. After about 9,000 different acronyms and league titles brainstormed it was settled.
New Frontier Wrestling (NFW) was officially announced to the world on May 31, 2000. Secretly stowed away on nothing, but a Yahoo Groups! message board -- a host of FW.com regulars, UWA veterans and other random applicants (wouldn't be the internet, without that) quickly joined and the journey began.
