Jason Barnes, better known as Trendkiller, is an American professional wrestler who currently wrestles for the World Wrestling Alliance, a former member of the Primetime Central circuit. He is a natural tweener, attracting both boos and cheers from the crowd, enjoying his recent change of scenery.

A few years ago, Trendkiller officially retired when New Era Wrestling - formerly a member federation of the PTC - closed it's doors for good. But following the death of his fiancee, Sandy Jones, he decided to get back in the game and give it another go. The WWA were pleased to welcome him into their family.

Early Life

Trendkiller was born Jason Barnes in Dallas, Texas, son of Jonah and Lily Barnes. He grew up in a white trash trailer park, suffering daily abuse from his alcoholic father. Despite this, Jason managed to lead a normal life outwards, but sometimes the rage inside him bled through and caused him to get into trouble at school and with the law. This, of course, rendered yet more thrashing from his father. His father's abuse wasn't limited to him, either; His mother took the brunt of the beatings and this of course had an enormous effect on young Jason.

At age 12, he stepped between his mother and father for the first time and his father, livid in a drunken rage, was deterred momentarily. He returned an hour later, when he proceeded to shoot Lilly and then himself. Jason survived only because he had gone to the police station to apply for a restraining order against his father. Upon his return, he found his parents dead and life took a new turn.

He was put into an orphanage in south Dallas, under the care of fair but firm caretakers. There he lived until he was fifteen, when the orphanage was destroyed in a fire. He has since replayed the event numerous times in head, trying to make peace with what he saw in the flaming inferno.

In the investigation after the fire, it was decided that Jason would not receive further help from the social services and he was put on the street with no job, no family and no money. He promptly got an arsehole of an apartment and continued to study in high-school, playing football in the school team. The coach took a special interest in the kid and sometimes even snuck him some money when times were hard. Jason survived by doing any kind of extra work came his way.

On one job, he was delivering pizzas to a local gym and found a group of young guy hanging out around a wrestling ring. He knew, of course, about wrestling and wanted to try the ropes and after that he was hooked.

Two years later, he graduated from high school and picked up wrestling as his full-time job.

Career

Aged 18, Trendkiller got his first job with a major federation. A few years later, the Brutal Fighting Federation - BFF - signed him to a developmental five-year deal that would make him financially independent at the end of the term. In the BFF, Trendkiller enjoyed huge success and eventually went on to capture several titles, including the Tag Team Championship. But as time progressed, the BFF had to shut it's doors due to a corporate merger that ended the reign of the BFF.

Trendkiller desperately searched for an organization that was both stable and able to offer him a contract that would support his lifestyle. He joined the SWO, where he captured the World Heavyweight Title on the very first night, but the federation closed it's doors mere weeks later. He did a lot of independent work during the following year, until, finally a new offer came his way: New Era Wrestling.

New Era Wrestling offered him a full-time contract and, overjoyed, Trendkiller went to work. He developed a few very good relations backstage and with the other workers, earning himself a reputation as a workhorse. His run in the NEW was as succesful as he could've hoped for and he was always in contention for the upper card. Then, even the NEW had to close it's doors and this time, aged 29, he decided to retire.

Two years later, as his fiancee Sandy Jones died in a car-crash, he decided to once again pick up the boots and tights and make his way onto the circuit. The WWA picked up on the rumor of his return and quickly offered him a contract. He remains in the World Wrestling Alliance to this day.
