Kimbusa (Born Mitsuhiro Kurokame, date unknown) is a professional wrestler best known for his successful runs in PTC's GTT tournaments. Kimbusa was a former sumo champion, having achieved the rank of yokozuna faster than any other man in history. Between his time in sumo and American wrestling, Kimbusa reportedly spent time as a Yakuza enforcer, as evidenced by the loss of half of his left pinky finger.
Early Life
Little is known of Kimbusa's early life. Those that know report that he was the son of an affluent Japanese family, was schooled traditionally before breaking into sumo at a young age. His true age is unknown, but it can be calculated from reports of his life events that he is near 30. It is possible that Kimbusa's legal name is not the one he was given at birth, which would make it more challenging to track down true facts.
Sumo Career
Kimbusa did not willingly pursue a career in sumo, but was essentially forced to compete due to his massive size. He saw fast success, quickly earning the highest rank possible and ending his career with an unbeaten record. Despite his transcendent abilities, Kimbusa was not loved by the fans nor the sumo masters. His temper and tendency to forsake the hallowed traditions long held by sumo artists earned him the ire of many, though his style spoke to the youth of Japan. Ultimately it was Kimbusa's temper that led to his downfall. On June 13th, 2001, Kimbusa threw an opponent out of the ring and onto his head in violent fashion, causing severe injuries that nearly led to the man's death. The event caused Kimbusa to be banned from sumo and disgraced among their ranks. Today his legacy is not one of historical dominance but rather treachery and disdain.
The Yakuza
Little is known of Kimbusa's time with the Yakuza. He is rumored to have served in Tokyo's Entertainment District for two years as an enforcer. After earning some notoriety in the mafia, Kimbusa experienced some sudden and intense police scrutiny, and he soon turned up in America alongside Yoshi Kimawa.
Professional Wrestling Career
Kimbusa arrived in America alongside new manager and mentor Yoshi Kimawa, who counseled Kimbusa in harnessing his talents. Kimbusa quickly gained attention as one of the largest men in the sport, and saw great success thanks to the uncanny agility and balance he gained during his sumo days. Kimbusa was recruited into the large upstart promotion Old School Wrestling where he quickly became one of the sport's biggest stars.
Kimbusa's big break came in GTT3. After Kimawa died, Kimbusa linked up with Steven Caldera as his new manager. Caldera guided Kimbusa through the biggest tournament in wrestling history, where Kimbusa tore through the opposition and earned more and more attention with each win. Kimbusa, still new to the American wrestling scene, shocked the world by becoming one of the final four men in the tournament alongside Angelo Deville, Inphino Blitz and Totally Tubular Tommy. Kimbusa and Deville squared off in the semi-finals, but the savvy Deville defeated Kimbusa. Still, the event had catapulted Kimbusa into wrestling's spotlight.
