Hessian (Real name Angelus Von Kelsig) is an American professional wrestling veteran of over a decade. His career has revolved in its entirety around Primetime Central in all of its forms and he has competed in most of the companies which have been a part of the interfed including PWA, NTICW, EW, PCW, OSW, RPW, GW and PRIME. At 7'2" and with a hardcore legacy he is one of the most recognisable faces in the business...thanks in no part to his notorious beard of doom.

History

A fact known to fewer than a handful of people, Von Kelsig was actually born Isaac Trent on the 24th of October 1971 to Jack and Margot Trent. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan his upbringing was that of a typical working class family. While doted on by his mother, his father was of a harder hand; a stereotypical hard-working, hard-drinking labourer. Years of abuse and torment from his father (who like anyone from that generation would call it "tough love") drove Isaac to leave home in his teens, and in a time before the nanny state it wasn't difficult for him to leave that life behind and start fresh.

At the turn of the '80s Isaac had begun the growth spurt that in twenty years would see him triumph in the squared circle. He started his new life by picking up work in and around his hometown, dossing on the floor of work colleagues or employers when he couldn't afford to rent room in a hostel or motel. As his physique improved through hard labour Isaac made more money undertaking tougher work and therefore was able to afford luxuries and hobbies. One such pastime he enjoyed with fellow workers was trips to a local boxing gym, after being coaxed on to take advantage of his impressive build.

While a proficient fighter in a boxing ring, that was merely the setting for his true calling. With no aspirations other than working to live (a trait passed on by his father) Isaac spent the years between 1980 and 2000 as a jack of all trades who increasingly spent time in the gym surrounded by positive male role models and the thrill of competition. By the mid-nineties he had held a few heavyweight titles in various small-time promotions, and in 2000 fate came calling in the form of PCW legend Vampir Nosferatu.

Career History

After being discovered by Vampir Nosferatu, the giant from Detroit was persuaded to sign up with the Primetime Wrestling Academy, a wrestling school and prerequisite to participation in the biggest wrestling company of the early 21st century: Primetime Championship Wrestling. Before he could compete however Isaac made the decision to change his name by deed poll in a bid to bury his past for good and ensure no one could trace him from his old life. With his new identity confirmed, the next step for Angelus Von Kelsig was to create a character suitable for the entertainment of wrestling fans. With his height and strength as a natural advantage his newfound mentor Vampir Nosferatu taught him how to combine those attributes with a terrifying presence to become a stand-out from the crowd. Thus Hessian was born; a seven foot giant spawned from the very pits of Hell to join the likes of Vampir and Clyde, DarkStar and Dark Gimmick as a force of darkness in wrestling. To avoid recognition by any undesirables, Von Kelsig adopted a variation of masks throughout his career, beginning in PWA with a steel plate fixed over the left side of his face.

The Murder Show trained for all of two weeks in the PWA alongside the likes of The Pharaoh, Xavier Kannon and Asa "Fro" Fountain before his natural ability and presence earned him and his fellow classmates promotion to NTICW, one of a few feeder fed for PCW at the time. It was in this fed that he found his calling as a hardcore monster that the fans loved to hate. Adopting a gas mask for his stay in NTICW, Hessian proved his worth against the likes of D-Kay Calyx, Totally Tubular Tommy and Joshua Kosidlo, with whom he shared a long feud in 2001; Hessian gained notoriety with his extreme tactics and successive title runs, twice holding U.S. championships. After five months in the company, PCW noticed the strong interest in NTICW from the fans and drafted Hessian to their ranks along with most of his fellow PWA and NTICW alumni.

The Goliath spent two months in PCW, garnering a Rising Star #1 contendership in the time he was there. Hessian also went on to develop as a dark gimmick fighting alongside or against other nightmarish characters such as Clyde and Nerezza. One of his memorable moments came when a match was proposed between Hessian and The H.I.T. in a match which would see them pit their 100+ moves lists against the other. Before that could happen however, shortly after PCW Shanghaied 2 Hessian met a fellow beast in Azrael Cain and the two aligned under the name of Heresian Bloodlust; a satanic powerhouse featuring two of the biggest and toughest monsters in wrestling. It wasn't long before the pairing were picked up to join the roster for the newest and hottest company to hit television screens worldwide: Old School Wrestling.

On 02-02-2002, OSW opened with a bang with the likes of Heresian Bloodlust, Da Westsidaz, Meanstreak and Ivan Stanislav bringing a nostalgic feel to a new era of wrestling. Successfully capturing the OSW Tag Team titles in May of 2002, Hessian went on to become renowned for his innovative hardcore style. Adding to his success the giant made it to the semi-finals of PTC's GTT 2 alongside White Mexican, Akiyama and Seth Masters. Had the tournament not fizzled out spectacularly the Murder Show would surely have been crowned the winner.

Hessian continued to wrestle in OSW through its entirety, participating in awesome feuds with Vampir Nosferatu, Erik Kelly, Clyde, Nerezza, Civil Disobedience, The Throwbacks and Ronin which cemented his status as a bonafide hardcore legend in the wrestling world. His trademark soon became the annihilation of opponents from great heights, and during his stint in OSW the giant captured Hardcore gold twice and the tag titles also for a second time. When the company eventually bowed out with their finale "EndGame" pay-per-view in 2004, Hessian was quickly snapped up by Rush Pro Wrestling.
