Skylar Green is an American professional wrestler of mixed heritage. Though known more for his near-aloof personality, characterized by zenlike calmness and simple outlook on life, he remains one of the most technically-proficient wrestlers in the wrestling world. Pure wrestling fans enjoy his seamless mix of classical grappling styles and new school techniques. Wrestlers appreciate the competition he provides, and the fact that he is an individual who does not seek to start anything with others. Promoters love Green's relatively low salary requirements (compared to what he is actually worth), his ability to step in and play wise veteran to reign workers inexperienced with the fame and money, and the proven track record of Green staying out of management affairs.

Life Before Wrestling
The Early Years
Green was born on April 29, 1981, on Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. His father was stationed there for 3 years before meeting his mother, a native inhabitant of the region. Having lived on a United States outpost in the former Ryukyu island, Green had an upbringing that was still much influenced by American culture. At the same time, being in the Far East (and having his mother present in the household) gave him a lifestyle heavily-influenced by the traditional Okinawan culture and general Japanese culture. Most of Ciel's early life had been spent living on this base; in fact his parents still live in Chatan, Okinawa, Japan to this day.
Skylar Green was socially awkward as a child, very quiet and shy. Though tall as an adult, he hit a late growth spurt at age 15, shooting up a full foot in height between his sophomore and junior years in high school. Somewhat of a bookworm, Green could always be seen with some sort of text (fiction or nonfiction) in his hands for leisure reading. Sky himself estimates that he's read nearly fifteen hundred books in his lifetime, at a rate of 4 per month... more if he's not actively wrestling competitively.
In all, Green's life before wrestling is quite boring. Nothing of the tragic or fantastic stories that usually go along with wrestlers. He doctored a false past to jump into the business, as a nice guy with good athleticism just didn't sell, but strip away the kayfabe and all that remains is a man who lived a normal, happy life with his parents.
Education & Athletics
Given his own mixed heritage, having an African-American father and an Okinawan mother, Green developed an early fascination with learning about various cultures and subcultural movements around the world. While it was little more than a hobby at first, this eventually grew into a full academic interest in pursuing the field full-time. Following high school, Green studied archeology and cultural anthropology at Okinawa International University.
Sky was active in various athletic sports in high school and college. Though he was an avid runner in the middle school years, that was more of hobby undertaking. There were two major sports that he took part in during his more formidable academic years: volleyball and basketball. Through both of these sports, he tasted his first truly competitive spirit, but at the same time, there was too much of a team-oriented aspect to relate it directly to wrestling. What that part of his background did do for him was to allow him to work on his running speed and vertical leaping ability.
After high school, Sky attempted to get into running and diving. He never made it onto the active teams, since he was neither fast enough, nor able to do what was necessary off of a diving board to get high scores. He did work on his cardiovascular conditioning, though, as well as improved his agility by leaps and bounds. That has stuck with him throughout his wrestling career.
Professional Wrestling Training
Skylar Green was trained to wrestle in Japan in Animal Horiguchi's gym, but he hasn't done much wrestling of any significance in that country. As a professional he has wrestled primarily in the U.S., Italy, and Germany, though he has spent a few learning excursions in Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Canada. He's taken something of a two-month sabbatical to Brazil a couple of years ago, during which he chose to engage in some Vale Tudo training. Though not an expert in the combat form, he absorbed that training into his wrestling so that he has some chance at defending himself against more skilled fighters.
Green's become a better hand-to-hand combatant by facing greater hand-to-hand combatants than himself. He learned how to fly by dedicating a good chunk of his wrestling career specifically to competing with cruiserweights and trying to beat them at their own game. The mat-wrestling game is only up to that level because of the opponents whom he has faced and had to force himself to match. His reversal skills are only as good as they are due to the countless times that his own moves have been reversed. Green is a perennial student of wrestling, very much a professional when it comes to making himself better at his craft.
