Eddie Van Dorn (born June 13th, 1981) is an American professional wrestler who currently wrestles for the World Wrestling Alliance, a former member of the Primetime Central circuit.
EVD is fearless, literally, he has consistantly picked fights with men twice his size and more times than not, he has come out on top.
Since joining the WWA in 2003, Eddie has won a legion of fans and many titles, proving that being Extreme doesn't mean you can't wrestle.
Eddie Van Dorn has wrestled all over the World; from the US, Canada and Mexico to Great Britain, Germany and Japan; especially having had amazing success in the Orient from 2004-2006, winning over the critical Japanese fans with his combined aerial, technical, submission and extreme skill.
Early Life
Eddie van Dorn was born to a pair of upper-middle class parents in Albuquerque, New Mexico. From an early age, it was clear that he was highly intelligent. Unfortunately, while his home life was nearly perfect, this led to him being a social outcast in school. But we've all heard that every dark cloud has a silver lining, yes? And what a silver lining this dark cloud had. One day early in his senior year of high school, a group of jocks were insulting him as usual, and Eddie could take no more.
He lashed out at the largest boy and ended up breaking his nose. While standing over the beaten jock, he felt such an adrenaline rush that he knew this is what he wanted to do with his life. He looked over at the loser's two friends, who promptly beat a hasty retreat.
Eddie ended up being suspended from school for this incident and when he came back, he had an entirely new outlook on life... an "I don't give a f*ck" attitude. It was during his suspension that he began watching professional wrestling just to get an idea of how "real" it actually is...
Career
World Wrestling Alliance
Having become a fan of the fight, Eddie was looking forward to getting involved in them as a career somehow. While he was too small to enter the world of shootfighting, he had seen people even smaller than he become a great success in wrestling... Rey Mysterio, Jr., for example. Well that was that. He dropped out of high school just three months before graduation and enrolled in a backyard fed in Truth or Consequences that was just started up by none other than Buck "The Hustler" Floyd, an icon of the wrestling world in several circles. Eddie wound up being one out of only two enrollees to make it through the "Trial by Fire" week and "graduate" from this training program. He was also the ONLY one to return to Floyd's home the day after "graduation," asking for more. Buck pulled a few strings and got the then-seventeen-year-old Eddie into an obscure independent promotion where he quickly rose to the top and captured that promotion's World Title, beating The Rock (I wish I was kidding) for it. To hear Eddie himself tell it, he can't even remember the name of that promotion, and to the best of his recollection it was called the GWA. To simplify things, that's what we'll call it.
The GWA soon closed with Eddie as the only champion the promotion had. It reopened under a new name, but again closed quickly right after the president handed the reigns to some jackass who made himself the World Champion then posted a message basically saying, "I'm the president, so f*ck you all. The HCW (Hardcore Championship Wrestling) is now closed." Needless to say, Eddie was pissed off beyond all measure. He needed an outlet, but it took him a good while to find it. He and Buck had signed up for a re-opening promotion called the FWW (Fresh Wrestling World), but this didn't get off the ground. Then came a ray of hope... the FFWA, the promotion that The Hustler had gained notoriety in, was reopening and he got his young protege in as well. Unfortunately for Eddie, he was dramatically overshadowed by his mentor. This led to an apparent split when Eddie joined a faction known as the PHW and began a verbal feud with Buck. However, this was all a trick to discover the inner workings of that group and make it easier to bring it down. Sad to say, but this was Eddie's biggest claim to fame in the FFWA/FWA.
Since then, Eddie has found his way to the big time, the World Wrestling Alliance. He made his shocking debut at the first invitational Bourbon Street Brawl. He has been able to make a name for himself, free of the shadow of Buck. He has won many titles, and amassed an impressive record against the other competitors of the WWA and, more recently, has turned face and formed a stable known as "Youth United" with Grunge, Nick Adams and Rick Venom.
After losing a match to The Chuckster, of all people, Eddie took it upon himself to leave the WWA for an unspecified amount of time in order to train in Japan. While there, he focused on improving his mat game, learning more leverage-based attacks and honing his submission holds. He also put on a few (very few) pounds of muscle in order to increase the pressure he is able to apply while using those holds. Now that he has returned to the World Wrestling Alliance, he will have the opportunity to showcase his new skills on a much larger stage. What new tricks will he have up his sleeve?
When Eddie returned to the WWA, he went on to become WWA Television Champion over Nick Adams. He would go on to survive the Birthday Brawl at Birthday Bash 2007 to shake the hand of fate and become the WWA World Heavyweight Champion, when he caught it, as it fell from the top of the WWAtron. He then became inbroiled in a fued with Ry Ballard which culminated in him losing the World title to Ballard at Rage In The Cage XI.
Eddie would then go after the title he wanted all along, the WWA United States Championship, and at Global Warfare he would win a three way Ladder match in Paris, France, to become the United States Champion for the first time. A few months later, he and his former friend Seth Copeland began a brutal feud which culminated in Copeland defeating him to become the United States Champion, and successfully defend it against him two weeks later.
