NC-17 2009, or NC-17 VII as it is now known, was a Pay-Per-View event held by GCW in February of 2010. NC-17 VII was hosted by Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and featured three full days of events. NC-17 FanFest took place on Friday and Saturday before the Pay-Per-View on Sunday. With an attendance of over 110,000 fans, NC-17 VII was by far GCW's most successful event to date. With over one million Pay-Per-View buys in addition to the record crowd, NC-17 VII was also the highest grossing event in the company's history.

Storylines

NC-17 typically features the Dangerous Games winner taking on the World Champion in the main event. This was not the case at NC-17 VII. Jay Terror made a surprise entrance into Dangerous Games and won the event, last eliminating Viivca J. Valentine. However, President Steven Caldera, hoping to groom Terror for an even larger role in the company, told him his title shot would have to wait. As a result, a number one contender's match was held between Valentine and second-runner-up Clyde Fox. Valentine won the match under questionable circumstances, and earned a shot at GCW Champion Andy Murray. Murray and Valentine had developed a strong romantic relationship in the previous months, but with the World Title wedged between them things quickly fell apart and came to a violent head at NC-17.

Meanwhile, Jay Terror bypassed his World Title shot to take on a deadly opponent: Jason O'Neil. Long a thorn in President Caldera's side, O'Neil was one of the few to match wits with the owner and come out on top. Terror was dispatched to eliminate O'Neil for good, resulting in a month-long war that never truly stopped... until Jay Terror revealed the true extent of his violent nature.

In what began as a lighthearted rivalry, Clyde Fox took on GCW Hall of Famer LeStatt Knight in a singles bout. Knight was stunned at Dangerous Games when Fox eliminated him less than two minutes after his entry, denying him a chance to repeat as Dangerous Games winner. Fox proceeded to infuriate Knight with his unflappable whimsy. But once Knight got Fox in the ring, things became quite a bit more serious, and Clyde had to prove he was up to the task of taking on the most decorated wrestler in GCW history.

Critical Response

After the previous year's innovations, NC-17 VII arrived with high expectations. The economic downturn of 2009 prevented GCW from investing in quite so many bells and whistles, but the company made up for it with pure energy and endless hype. The company released a program several weeks before the event to give casual viewers a quick reference to the night's events. The FanFest event was also highly successful in ramping up fan excitement. The show then delivered with a very highly reviewed event featuring some of the best matches in company history. GCW experienced a major recruiting boom after the event, and left the company flush with cash.
