Hunter Sabuani (born Hunter Sabiano 12-10-1971) is a professional wrestler, currently in the employ of Sin City Championship Wrestling and is currently a member of the Dead Man's Hand stable.
The Early Days: The National Wrestling Council
Hunter Sabuani debuted in the now-defunct federation of Georgia Championship Wrestling in the fall of 1998, quickly earning success with his brash attitude and high-flying wrestling style. He was the first wrestler to capture the federation's premier championship, the GCW Georgia State Championship, defeating the mammoth Goliath to do so. Sabuani (already at this time linked romantically with Miss Madison) saw even more success as he and his closest friends from the New England Wrestling Coalition (including former Lone Star Wrestling Regional Champion Stagminn, former GCW Georgia State and Southern Heritage Champion Vatch 'The Axeman' Indesson, and multiple-time NWC World and Regional Champion, 'The Sheriff' Damon Hayes) formed the loose-knit stable called The Crew.
On October 24th, 1998, at GCW's first pay-per-view, the Battle of Atlanta, Sabuani defeated then-NWC Champion 'The Moronic' Joshua Lee to capture the National Wrestling Council's highest honor and single-handedly bring the fledgeling GCW notoriety among the Council's federations. Though Sabuani's reign was not lengthly (ending a mere three weeks later in his defeat by 'Sexy' Steve Sire on a night most well-known for the formation of the Upper Echelon), the so-called 'King of Swing' had taken important steps in the legitimization of Georgia Championship Wrestling in a sea of well-known and well-respected federations.
